South of Israel

Welcome to the South, where endless stretches of land, sand dunes, and deserts dominate the landscape and where animals run wild. As the largest district in Israel, it is also the least populated area – and one that holds endless gems and opportunities for discovery, relaxation, and exploring one of the Wonders of the World.

The Dead Sea is a natural Wonder of the World, located some 430 meters below sea level. It stretches over 51 kilometers in length – and as the lowest place in the world, it is a must-visit for a float, relaxation, and, of course, to heal your body.

Israel’s  southernmost city is a beach city, the kind that snorkeling dreams are made of. Eilat is located on a bustling port at the northern tip of the Red Sea, where the desert climate is balanced by the warm sea. This is a city that doesn’t disappoint with, on average,  360 gloriously sunny days a year. Whether you like birdwatching, dolphin watching, or just soaking in the rays at one of the stunning hotels, Eilat is in a whole other class of its own.

The Negev, named after the root of the Hebrew word “to dry,” is a dry and arid area, with many opportunities to discover its nature and meet people from all cultures and walks of life in Israel. It’s a triangle-shaped desert in a semi-arid region of Israel. We’ll discover kibbutzim, small Bedouin cities, the Hebrew Israelites of Dimona, and plenty of opportunities to eat, travel, and connect.

While Eilat is one of the most touristy cities in Israel, it’s like that for a good reason. Here, you’ll find stunning beaches and emerald blue water everywhere you go, topped off with a gorgeous backdrop of red mountains as the scenery for your next perfect hike.

There are lots of things to do here, too, from birdwatching and free-fall parachuting to the Coral World Underwater Observatory – the largest public aquarium in the Middle East.

Diving lovers and researchers will love Coral Beach, a nature reserve and national park in the Red Sea. This beach covers 1.2 kilometers of shore and is the northernmost shallow-water coral reef in the world. Time for a bit of snorkeling!

We’ll also take you to visit the International Birdwatching Center, one of the most important research and observation centers in the world! The professional guides will teach you about the 500 million birds and 500 bird species that pass through Israel regularly – twice a year – resting in the area of Eilat during their migration.

Snorkeling and Hiking, the perfect combo!

Let’s take a jeep here and go Red Sea snorkeling! We will take you on a four-hour adventure through Eilat’s best desert routes, high up into the mountains following ancient desert trails, and then to the Red Coast at Israel’s border with Egypt to give you a birds-eye view of coral life and marine creatures. This snorkeling adventure is fun for the whole family.
